In December of 2015, Adidas launched the NMD under the label's street-focused Originals umbrella. It's not hyperbole to say the sneaker's release was revolutionary—and a bold step forward in the technology-first space for Adidas. While the Harden Vol. 1 boasts a black and grey knit upper with white and black leather accents, the Dame 3 and D Rose 7 both note white uppers with black detail as a nod to the traditional performance gear of Ashe’s era. “AA” branding has been applied to the left sockliner to both represent Ashe’s initials, as well as AIDS Awareness and Anti-Apartheid. The “1975” graphic then points to Ashe’s Wimbledon victory and number one world ranking, and “Arthur Ashe Activist Advocate”adidas originals honey low can be seen on the right sockliner to commemorate his contributions that transcend sport even still.
